Carmarthenshire Real Nappies - Free Trial Pack

Nearly 3,000 tonnes of disposable nappies are thrown away in Carmarthenshire each year at a cost of more than £180,000 - and they take around 500 years to decompose.
Now parents are being urged to ditch the disposables and give real nappies a go.
A baby will use at least six nappies a day - which will double the amount of household waste during a year.

By using real nappies, even just some of the time, you will reduce the number of black bags you put out for collection – and the amount of waste sent to landfill!
By using real nappies instead of disposables, parents can also save up to £500 and even more on a second baby.
For a free real nappy trial pack call Carmarthenshire Direct on 01267 234567.

Isle of Wight Real Nappy Network Trial Kit

The IOW Real Nappy Network was originally set up in 2002, and is currently run by Niki Broadsmith. Its aims are:
  • to spread the word across the Island about the fantastic benefits of reusable (a.k.a. washable or cloth) nappies, and
  • to make choosing and buying nappies easy and enjoyable.
We offer impartial information and advice on reusable nappies to any parent, regardless of location.
However, looking at pictures on the Internet is no substitute for trying the nappies "for real"! So, parents on the Isle of Wight also have the advantage of using the IW Real Nappy Network's NAPPY SERVICES : choose from reasonably-priced newborn nappy hire, or parents can have a two-week-free-hire nappy trial which is best suited to babies from around 10lbs in weight up to one year old. Due to rising petrol costs, both these services incur a combined delivery/pick-up charge of £4.95 and a refundable deposit of £15 is also required to cover any accidental damage to or necessary replacement of any of the nappies.
Reusablenappies are constantly changing and evolving to meet the needs of today's busy parent. The IW Real Nappy Network stocks many of the reusable nappy products and accessories currently available in the UK, and offers a personal delivery service anywhere on the Isle of Wight:. All the products featured in the nappy trial kits have been tried and tested by local parents, and you will be offered independent advice based on our wealth of experience of nappy products from a whole range of different suppliers.
You do not have to order your nappies from the IW Real Nappy Network to benefit from its advice. We will answer any query about reusable nappies because we like them! However, purchasing products through the Network - either in person or through the online shop - allows the free-hire two-week nappy trial service for Island parents to continue.
The Network has informative display boards and leaflets - as well as factsheets on this site - covering all aspects of nappy use: regular visits and nappy demonstrations occur in a number of areas across the Island. Contact your local Children's Centre, antenatal class, or your local baby or toddler group to find out if the IW Real Nappy Network already visits there: if not, why not ask your group organiser to contact IW Real Nappy Network on the number below? We are always happy to visit nurseries, childminders, antenatal classes, and other interested groups to show off a variety of reusable nappies and accessories, reusable swim nappies and potty training aids!
To see and handle the nappies for yourself simply click HERE to email, or call 07833 371144 to arrange a visit.

Guernsey Real Nappy Incentive - £35 Voucher!

Not a safety pin in sight!
Consider using cloth nappies instead of disposable nappies. It’s estimated that over 9,000 nappies a day - 3.25m a year - are thrown away in Guernsey. Modern cloth nappies bear no resemblance to the old-fashioned terry towelling nappies - they’re easy to wash, come in attractive designs, and Velcro and popper fastenings help keep babies dry and snug.
There are lots of different designs, so try before you buy in bulk to make sure the design suits your needs.
The Public Services Department runs an incentive scheme to encourage parents to try real (washable) nappies.  Under this scheme, a £35.00 subsidy voucher is available to new or expectant parents (one voucher per child) and is redeemable following nappy purchase.  For more information on how to apply for a voucher, contact the Department on 717000, or email publicservices@gov.gg.
